The HL7 Messaging Standard Version 2.6 is used in the Continua Design Guidelines for definitions of the data to be exchanged between CDG devices, the timing of the exchanges, and the communication of certain application-specific errors between the applications.

HL7 Version 2.6 approved in October 2007 represents HL7’s represents a major revision to Versions 2.5 and 2.5.1, refining and updating existing messages and adding new messages and domains. Version 2.7 exists but does not supersede V2.6.

In use since its approval in October 2007. No erratum exists.
